About this tour
Huauchinango is the capital of the Sierra Norte de Puebla and one of the greenest municipalities in Mexico. Nestled at more than 1,800 meters above sea level, its cool climate, cloud forests, and waterfalls have made it the setting for the Feria del Xóchitl, considered the largest flower festival in the country. But its riches extend beyond nature.
Archaeologist Noé Campos will take us to the Temple of the Assumption, one of the most striking colonial churches in the Sierra Norte of Puebla, whose Baroque façade contrasts with the surrounding mountainous landscape. Afterward, we’ll visit the Tenango Dam, whose emerald waters and panoramic views of the mountains are one of the region’s best-kept secrets.
A breakfast along the way and a meal in Huauchinango are part of a tour designed to help you discover a side of Mexico rarely featured in travel guides. Early departure from Mexico City and return before nightfall.
