About this tour
La caída de la monarquía hispánica trajo consigo el surgimiento de una leyenda negra sobre sus instituciones más representativas, la Inquisición o Santo Oficio fue una de ellas. Los nuevos liberales resaltaron el uso del tormento, de cárceles insalubres y de penas arbitrarias en contra de personas inocentes para considerar a la antigua autoridad de atrasada y cruel, completamente ajena al nuevo contexto. En este paseo se verá con ojos críticos los orígenes de la institución, cómo llega a la Nueva España y cómo era su procedimiento.
